Designed to Be Lived In
Frei Design is a leading residential architecture firm specializing in custom home design, new construction including ADU’s, and high-end remodels throughout Marin County, San Francisco, and the Peninsula. Our work embraces a diverse range of architectural styles, including Victorian, Craftsman, Spanish, Shingle, Cottage, French Farmhouse, Mountain Chalet, and Japanese-inspired homes, each thoughtfully designed to reflect the character of its surroundings and the unique lifestyle of its owners.
Our primary goal is to create timeless, elegant homes that blend functionality, beauty, and lasting quality. Every project is a collaboration, ensuring that the finished design is a true reflection of the client’s individual personality and way of life. We focus on site-specific architecture, carefully considering scale, proportion, natural light, spatial flow, and intricate details to create homes that feel harmonious and inviting. A strong indoor-outdoor connection is central to our work, with designs that maximize natural light and seamlessly integrate with the surrounding landscape.
Meet Norah
Norah opened her own firm in 2002 after working for various Architects in the Bay Area and graduating Highest Honors with her Architecture Degree from the California College of Arts and Crafts. Her interest in architecture stemmed form a seven year sailing trip around the world where she was exposed to many interesting and artistic interpretations of the spaces we live in; the way they were interwoven with the site and their use of local materials and crafts that combined to reflect the unique personality of the occupants. She is happy to work on residential projects of all styles because it is the people and the design product that are the most important aspects of a project. As a matter of principle all projects are designed to be as sustainable as possible. Raised in Cincinnati Ohio, Norah received a BA in Psychology from Miami University. She lives in Larkspur with her husband and three children. In the calm early morning hours, you will most likely find her rowing her shell somewhere on the San Francisco Bay.
